Owner-operators
John & Joanne Van Strien have logged 60,000 miles on "Western Grace"
in British Columbia, Mexico, California, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Alaska &
Hawaii. They
both were born, raised and educated in Holland. By
age 9, John was going to sea on his uncle's North Sea trawlers on summer holidays.
John completed a two year nautical college program at Oranje Nassua in Delfzyl,
then logged 60,000 miles as crew on a Baltic Sea ship. After time ashore in Holland,
they moved to British Columbia, Canada, and founded a sailing bareboat charter
and sailing school, which they sold before building Western Grace.
